Press Release Human Plus for Haiti       (20. April 2010)

Human Plus, the Nettetal aid organisation, again sends almost 2.5 tonnes of relief supplies to the Caribbean - Haiti still by no means "out of the woods"
Nettetal. No longer the focus of the world's attention, no longer in the news every day, but still a disaster area. The situation in Haiti is still critical three months after the earthquake. The survivors are dependent more than ever on international aid. Human Plus, the Nettetal aid organisation, also shares this view and is continuing to organise aid flights to the Central American island. The organisation has now again collected almost 2.5 tonnes of relief supplies and dispatched them to Haiti: Dressing materials, cuddly toys for children (collected in kindergartens in North Rhine-Westphalia) and biscuits. Orphanages, SOS Children's Villages and clinics will benefit from this aid consignment this time. They were assisted on this occasion by Air Berlin, "Ein Herz für Kinder", de Beukelaer, Leisure Cargo GmbH and Heli-Aviation.

Press Release Human Plus for Haiti       (24. February 2010)

Nettetal-based aid organisation Human Plus: Haiti by no means "out of the woods" - 1.2 million homeless people in need of aid
Nettetal. The situation in the earthquake region of Haiti has not improved although six weeks have now elapsed since the catastrophe. On the contrary, the survivors are dependent more than ever on international aid. Human Plus, the Nettetal-based aid organisation, is still working untiringly to bring relief supplies to the Central American country and also purposefully distribute them there. That's because the living conditions of the population are deteriorating from day to day. Anestis Ioannidis, Director of Human Plus: "At a rough estimate, 300,000 people were killed and 250,000 injured during the earthquake. These figures correspond to the tsunami catastrophe five years ago, but seven countries were affected at that time." The future prospects also do not look very promising. Ioannidis: "1.2 million people are homeless, and the rainy season will start in April. Tents and sanitary facilities are urgently required." The Director of Human Plus is not even talking here about medical care or the 100 million food rations which will be needed in the next few weeks according to the United Nations.

Early in the morning last Friday February 5, the day was made a bit brighter as leisure cargo welcomed a delegation from Human Plus at their headquarters at DUS. Human Plus with offices in Nettetal near Dusseldorf is well respected for their global humanitarian effort.
"Human Plus wanted to learn locally about the process of transporting their relief goods to Haiti so they came to see us here in DUS," said leisure cargo Managing Director Ralf Auslaender. "With support of Air Berlin PR department, Karl-Hermann Hansen, and Uwe Lascheit, Manager Operation of Flughafen Dusseldorf Cargo GmbH, a visit was arranged inside the cargo hall and then outside to watch the loading of the relief goods into the AB Airbus A330 prior to flying the goods to LRM Dominican Republic.
"From the Dominican Republic a helicopter moved the relief supplies into Haiti."
According to Karin Rohnstock at leisure: "Everybody felt quite pleased to help and also because the cargo move was smooth without a hitch.
"Later leisure people and the folks from Human Plus took some coffee together in a 'getting to know you session' in the leisure cargo conference room.
"It was really a unique opportunity for us to learn something about the work of an aid organization while our guests in turn were offered a chance up close, out on the ramp and in office to see first hand how the cargo business works." Geoffrey

Press Release       (27 January 2010)

Nettetal aid organisation Human Plus sends relief aid and a helicopter to Haiti - Walter Grieger: "Every second counts!"
Nettetal. "The helicopter is important, very important in fact!" Anestis Ioannidis, Director of the Nettetal-based aid organisation Human Plus, is bursting with enthusiasm. That's because Human Plus was able last Saturday - with the support of "Ein Herz für Kinder" (Springer Publishing Company) and the Augsburg helicopter company "Heli Aviation" - to send a helicopter to Haiti. "Due to the desperate state of the infrastructure in Haiti, a helicopter is like winning the lottery jackpot", emphasised Ioannidis. He said that a helicopter was the only way to ensure that the existing relief aid, but also doctors and paramedics could reach their destination in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince and the surrounding catastrophe area, i.e. where they are urgently needed. "And not forgetting seriously injured people", stressed Ionannidis, "who can only be flown out in a helicopter". The helicopter and around 13 tonnes of relief aid (bandages, baby food and medicaments). left Germany bound for Haiti on Saturday. Human Plus has already sent a total of 20 tonnes of relief aid (23 tents, 1,200 blankets and pillows, food, bandages, toiletries, clothing and shoes) to the Caribbean. However, that's not all...
